Unmasked

The most important issue right now in the hive mind of the Republicans seems to be to prevent people from wearing a mask. In a roundabout way, this is very fitting, as we are now experiencing a situation where any remaining slivers of plausible deniability are evaporating and we see the Republicans expose themselves for what they really are: callous, cynical monsters who care for absolutely nothing but their own political power.

The GOP is, indeed, unmasked. The world is watching, and the world remembers. I sincerely hope they will not be able to hide behind their masks again and pretend to be human. Compassion, decency, honesty, reason and a desire to do good are fundamental traits for those aspiring to lead a free nation, not a fake mask to put on and fake outrage when it suits your dark and deceptive purposes.

There is nothing left but ugly to see of the Republican party. Remember this sight, and do not ever let them make you forget what you saw.

The Dark Side

When watching US politics from the outside, it's painfully obvious that there are two opposing sides two every debate, and that there are very few "moderate" views on the scale between the two extremes. In fact, there seems to be no scale at all, only the polar opposites. Why is that?

A simple but ugly explanation is that there is nothing that bridges good and evil, no intermediate position to take between the dark side and the light side. If you are evil, you have no capacity for compassion, empathy, kindness and self sacrifice for the greater good. Evil knows only greed, cruelty and self service. Evil considers decency and consideration for others a flaw and a weakness, and evil cannot understand how good people think, just as good people cannot understand how evil people think.

It is a sorry state of affairs that we are not seeing a debate between right and left, but between right and wrong. And to confuse things, the left side is the right side.

The political "right" in the US has gone berserk and descended into pure evil, and they are on the wrong side of history. We can only hope that history does not change sides.

Busted

Today, we finally saw criminal indictments for the Trump Organization and its CFO Allen Weisselberg. The entire Trump cult is going haywire about it, and there is most certainly more to come in the form of indictments against the individual executives of the company, most of whom are named Trump.

This is the beginning of the end of the barely human scum that sullied the White House with his orange presence from 2016 to 2020. It is also the opportunity for us to start breathing and to stop caring what this has-been is doing. The legal system is going to dismantle him, slowly but relentlessly, and it is entirely his own problem.

Good bye, Donald Trump. The world never needed you, and it will be a better place with you in prison.

Bad Rep

As time passes and the legal system is slowly starting to grind normally, after being crippled for the past four years by a corrupt and criminal cabal of Trumpists, we are finally seeing the enablers of the Orange Menace be taken to court for their shenanigans and dirty deeds.

The wheels of Justice grind slowly but deliberately, and we are not going to see them all in jail by tomorrow, or next week, or maybe even next year for the most complicated and extensive legal cases, but the bad people in the Republican party are in deep trouble, and they know it.

When these people, and I use that term very generously to refer also to the lowlife scum we are discussing here, are finally gone from the Republican party, what will be left? Not a lot. Perhaps not enough to remain a major player in US politics. A split or a reboot with a new name might be the best way forward. We will see how it plays out.

It's important to keep two things in mind: the worst is over for the good people, and the worst is yet to come for the bad people. Be patient.

Broken

Donald Trump is finally out of the White House, a place where he never fit in, never seemed to want to be, and never should have been in the first place. Still, most of the Republican party seem to be supporting him, even as he makes a fool of himself for everyone to see. The finally former president is a broken man, physically, mentally, financially and politically, and yet his minions seem intent on going down with the ship instead of trying to save whatever might be left to save of their corrupt and self-serving careers.

These people are not all stupid. They are not all sheep that are easily led to slaughter. There is something very strange about this, and I suspect we will soon see a very ugly underbelly of the monstrosity that is the Republican party.

About time, I say. I just can't quite fathom how they seem so intent on helping speed up their demise. But then again, I fail to understand the motivations for most things they do. I certainly understand why they do it, but I don't understand how anyone would want to do anything for those reasons.

Line in the Sand

Like I said in my post from June 29, I will never understand the unfaltering support from most US citizens of the nation's armed forces, in particular when it comes to personal communication. Anyone posting a comment in an online forum and stating that they are a current or former member of the US armed forces, several people pile on with nothing more to say than "thank you for your service". They do not know anything about what that person did, or how well they did their job, it's just a reflex action to say it. Veterans are close to untouchable, and to disrespect American troops is a carreer ending move for any politician from either party.

So, of course, this is what asshat crazypants Trump does. He has been quoted as saying that a cemetery-full of people who died in service during WWI were "losers" and "suckers", and bragging about how he cheated his way out of being drafted for Vietnam. Several sources have confirmed this, but the White House is panicking to kill the story. Their reaction means two things: it's true, and they know how damaging it is.

I can't understand why this would be the straw that finally broke the camel's back, but sure, I'll welcome anything that can make the average American wake up, realize what a truly horrible person they have elected and get off their ass and vote him out in November.

Reckoning

The train wreck that is Donald Trump's presidency gets ever more horrific with each passing day, and what little remains of his support is dwindling by the hour. Mainstream media outlets are now finally starting to report on the obvious criminal and corrupt behavior from Trump and his minions, and we even see his lies being correctly called out as such, instead of being described as merely "contested statements", or the cowardly euphemism "non-factual statements".

It is now, finally, looking like truth and compassion will prevail, and that intelligence and skill will once again be merits for serving in either of the three branches of US government.

It is no longer a distant dream that Trump and his evil cabal of grifters, cheaters, fascists and thugs will be brought to justice. Several of them have in fact already been convicted, more are facing charges, and still more are being investigated - among them Donald Trump himself.

However, now that the day of reckoning is coming for the Trump administration, rhe United States must reflect on the sad fact that President Trump was even allowed to happen. It was blindingly obvious even four years ago that Trump was a liar, a cheater, a racist, a sexual predator with a sickening taste for underage girls, a malignant narcissist and an absolute moron. It is very disturbing that the political system was unable to prevent a person so obviously unfit for the presidency, and so unworthy of it, from getting all the way to the top and making a huge mess of everything.

The United States will not survive another mistake like this, and the world is facing other, real problems that need our full attention. Having an evil clown in the White House, throwing a childish tantrum at every perceived enemy, never even trying to do his job, makes it hard to focus on important matters. Donald Trump must go, his entire gang of thugs must go, and people like them must never again be allowed to take the country hostage.

The United States has quite a lot of self reflection to do before it can show its face in the international arena again.
